Bangkok is currently considered as an aviation hub of the South East Asian region.

BangkokInternaional Airport plays a major role in internaional aviation together with the four other international airports situated in major cities, namely Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai , and Phuket.

Presently under construction, the New Bangkok International Airport (NBIA) is set to replace the current Bangkok International Airport and will be developed to become a regional aviation hub.

The NBIA is expected to begin operation in September 29, 2005. Initially, it will serve approximately 30 million passengers per year.
